Getting Started: Before operating your Astroverb 16, please set up the amplifier as follows:
- Check to make sure that a speaker is properly plugged into one of the two Speaker Jacks located on the rear panel.
- Plug your guitar into the Input Jack on the front panel.
- Set the Volume control to ‘0.'
- Plug the Power Cord into the power receptacle on the rear panel. Turn the Power switch on and wait about 30 seconds for the tubes to warm up.
- Rock on!!
WARNING: NEVER OPERATE THIS GUITAR AMPLIFIER WITHOUT SPEAKER(S) OR A SUITABLE “DUMMY LOAD” PLUGGED INTO THE SPEAKER JACK(S). FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE OUTPUT TRANSFORMER AND FAILURE OF THE AMPLIFIER.
Amps, Speakers, and Impedance: The Astroverb 16 is designed for a 16-ohm speaker. You may also operate this amplifier in conjunction with additional speaker cabinets. An 8-ohm or a 16-ohm speaker cabinet will work fine with the Astroverb 16, but we do not recommend using a 4-ohm cabinet.
General Operation: The Astroverb 16’s controls are extremely simple.
- The Preamp adjusts the amount of gain (distortion) that the amp produces.
- The Reverb control adjusts the amount of reverb.
- The Bass, Middle, and Treble controls allow for adjustments in your tone.
- The Volume control lets you set how loud the amp will sound.
- The Presence control adds an overall brightness, which is handy when trying to cut through in a ‘dead’ room.
The Astroverb 16 enjoys a far greater range of gain than most amps in its class. Its tonal character stretches from glassy clean to Gritty edge to modern high-gain grind.
Playing Clean: For cleaner sounds, much like vintage amps, we recommend that the Volume control be set at ‘11’ to maximize this amplifier’s extended headroom. Now simply use the Preamp control to obtain the desired tone and volume.
Playing with Distortion: To explore the amp’s high gain capabilities, the Volume control should be set initially at a low level (roughly 3-5) and the Preamp control turned up to give the preferred gain and distortion. Then return to the Volume control and adjust for desired loudness.
Remember: Experiment. That is how you will get the most out of your amplifier.
Soldano products have a lifetime warranty
on workmanship (the SLO-100 warranty is transferable).
Parts and labor are warranted for ten years (excluding tubes,
transformers, damage, and normal wear and tear).
Tubes: Power tubes wear out. They should be checked and serviced regularly and generally replaced annually. Our high grade preamp tubes will often give years of trouble free service and need only be replaced when necessary.
You may purchase Maximum Duty 5881 power tubes and 12AX7 preamp replacement tubes directly from us for your amplifier.
